Palace Mirissa is located in the village of Mirissa in the southern coast of Sri Lanka. 3-4 hours drive from Colombo International Airport. Palace Mirissa, located in a hillock overlooking the Indian Ocean very close to Mirissa Bay which has one of the most picture-postcard perfect beaches on the south coast. Mirissa is located between the towns of Weligama and Matara. The historic city of Galle is 25 minutes away from Mirissa. There is a new highway built from Colombo to Galle which considerably reduces the journey time Mirissa.
Also, the Continental Shelf (where the deep sea starts) is located very close to the shoreline of Mirissa. Hence it is the perfect spot for one of Mirissa's key attractions: Whale and Dolphin watching, during the months of December to April.
Mirissa beach is famous as a surf spot in the Indian Ocean. Beginners and experienced surfers can enjoy and experience of surfing in Sri Lanka at Mirissa.
For sight-seeing, there are coconut and rubber plantations close by, as well as spice gardens and temples. Also, safari tours to Yala and Udawalawe national parks can be done from Palace Mirissa.
The main restaurant at Palace Mirissa serves traditional Sri Lankan rice and curries and western cuisine. Fresh seafood that purchased straight from the boats as they come in with their day’s catch are served at Palace Mirissa. There are several beach bars and small beach side restaurants scattered along the Mirissa Bay where you can dine under the stars and sea breeze.
