Heritance Tea Factory - Introduction
Heritance Tea Factory Hotel has character and star-class, set in an emerald tea plantation 6,800 feet above sea level, only six degrees from the Equator in the mountain range which gave the world Pure Ceylon Tea. Tea Factory Hotel began as a factory built in the days of the British Raj, a tea factory built in the 1930s by British planters. It has been converted so that much of the original style and machinery remains, a reminder of the past in perfect blend with innovations of the present.
The reception was once the drier room, the sifting and packing rooms now house a highly-recommended restaurant and bar. In a nostalgic recreation of the years of steam railway which ran along these slopes until 1940; the Tea Factory's fine-dining restaurant is a restored railway carriage, where you can enjoy a five-course meal with an infusion of Western and Eastern influences.
Heritance Tea Factory setting is what delights many, the gentle howl of the night-time breezes is likely to lull the most troubled mind to sleep.

The Heritance Tea Factory lies alone and unique, on the steep slopes of the tea plantations in Kandapola, in the sparsely-populated hills in the east of Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya can be approached via Kandy or Hatton. The drive from Kandy is about three hours. Although the final couple of miles along a badly-maintained road can be a little wearing. However, when the journey ends, there is no more luxurious way to explore Sri Lanka’s history of tea making. The Heritance Tea Factory is120 miles from Colombo and 112 miles from Colombo International Airport.

Do not imagine that the Tea Factory is Spartan - far from it. Its 57 Deluxe and Standard rooms offer: wall-to-wall carpeting, baths/showers with hot and cold water, view of the gardens and tea plantation. There is also in-room dinning and fine selection of in-room teas - a rarity these days. The rooms open out to beautiful views of the tea estate and the surrounding village.

The Suite room at the Heritance Tea Factory is like a luxury flat with dining and living areas, and separate bedroom. Toilet is very large, stunningly luxury with Jacuzzi bath tub and separate walking in shower.
