Ceylon Tea Trails Norwood Bungalow - Introduction
In central Sri Lanka, lies the Golden Valley of Tea. This is home to old Ceylon. Here, four classic colonial bungalows, built for British tea estate managers in the days of the Raj, have been caringly restored by Dilmah Tea with the cooperation of Bogawantalawa Tea Estates. The Tea Trails bungalows are situated in different locations in a stunning area of Sri Lanka's hill country. They were built between 1890 and 1939 each bungalow has its own charm, but they all combine classical and contemporary styles. Norwood is one of the four bungalows. The bungalow at Norwood commands a fine view of the eastern end of the Bogawantalawa valley and rests in the shelter of one of the finest bamboo stands to be found anywhere.
The suites are oversized with imposing colonial style furniture, some with four-poster beds and very elegant bathrooms. A spacious lounge and well-stocked library lead out to a croquet lawn, a large swimming pool and sun deck. It is here where planters of the past invited friends to enjoy the pristine air and glorious outlook. You too can wander the gardens unchanged since yesteryear, soaking up the atmosphere of a time gone by.
