Another luxury property - The Fortress near the historic town of Galle – will open at the end of this year, boosting Sri Lanka’s image as a world-class tourist destination.
This latest investment is a clear signal of the confidence of international and local investors in the island’s tourism revival.
The Fortress is Maldives-based Per Aquum Resorts & Spas first venture in Sri Lanka. The architectural design of the new hotel is based on the ancient Dutch Fort at Galle.
It will feature 47 guest rooms, including six two-storey loft suites with private pools.
The Fortress will also showcase two restaurants serving Sri Lankan and international cuisine, as well as offering a range of Ayurvedic treatments and therapies.
General Manager The Fortress, Mr Scot Toon, said that the opening of the resort is timely for Sri Lankan tourism and will further enhance the island’s reputation as a world class destination.
