National Museum - Housed in a fine colonial-era building visitors will find a magnificent collection of ancient royal regalia, Sinhalese artwork, antique furniture and china and antique demon masks.
Dehiwala Zoo - The zoo has a wide collection of creatures from the big cats and monkeys to a range of birds and an aquarium and provides visitors with an exciting treat in the form of the daily elephant show.
Negambo - A characteristic fishing town 35km north of Colombo, it is a 6km from the international airport. Set amid lush groves of coconut palms and golden beaches, it breathes the spirit of the sea. Negambo is a gourmet's paradise with seafood in plenty. Old world fishing craft, like the outrigger canoe and the catamaran, bring seer, skipjack, herring and mullet, pomfret and amber jack, with lobster and prawn being caught in the lagoon.
Mt Lainia - This provides the visitor with an opportunity enjoy the golden sandy beaches of Sri Lanka whilst remaining within the hub of Colombo. The beach is one of the better known, even in colonial times. It lies alongside a wind-swept headland jutting into the waters of the Indian Ocean. The Governor's House, built in 1805 by Sir Thomas Maitland, now forms part off the Mount Lavinia Hotel.
